When it comes to ant control, we will take care of you from A to Z. In fact, ant control is not just controlling the ants you see. What is the extra layer? Control must also address the problem from the root – the nest. At Mezikis we give a six-month warranty for ant control.

Where do ants like to travel? Where can we find them? | You will most likely find the ants on the kitchen counter, in the bathtub in the cracks between the porcelain tiles and next to the toothpaste, near flower pots in the house and on the floor of the house (closer to the door hinges). |
Will ant gel solve the problem on its own? | If you encounter only a localized problem (and inside the house and not outside), there are different types of gels that will solve the problem (or at least postpone the end until the pest control is carried out). |
What ant gel do you recommend? | We recommend the gel we work with from the “Advion” company. |
How is pest control actually carried out? | The spraying is done on all the panels in the house (the lower parts of the wall), in the cabinet under the sink, in the bathroom and kitchen drains, on the window sills in the window frames, and in all places prone to disaster. In addition, we will put gel baits or granular bait that the “working” ants will take to the nest and eliminate the nest from the root. |

Ant control – I killed one, did I solve the problem?
Ant Control – A Frequently Asked Question
If I see one, do I need to disinfect the whole house?
Dor explains the rationale behind the spraying
There are pests that live alone – ants, on the other hand, are very social animals – have you seen one ant? It is likely that it is not alone and that there are other ants nearby. If you wiped the marble and thought that the problem was solved? You will probably realize that you were wrong as time goes by.
– When exterminating ants, it is always a good idea to use a remedy before the attack.
In addition to spraying and exterminating ants in standard locations, we at Mezikis treat the problem from the root, from the nest.
Ants leave a “pheromone trail” behind them for other ants – which means expect more ants to attack your home soon.
Do you live in an apartment or a private house? Please note – in most cases there is much more than one nest – destroying one nest will not solve the problem.

Ant life cycle:
The life cycle of ants is directly related to the colony. While males live only a few weeks and die after mating, females are active for several months. Queens live for over a decade in optimal conditions (over a decade!). In Israel, we pay attention to ants mainly in the summer, but it should be remembered that they are animals that are active all year round.
(Last winter of 2019-2020 – we witnessed quite a few cases of ants in winter.) They are active all year round in tropical weather, in Israel they survive the winter in a state of inactivity (diapause).

Green pest control for ants
To get rid of ants – it is better to know what type we are dealing with – mainly in terms of whether they are “regular” ants or fire ants (orange and stinging) . In most home ants, the solution will be spraying with microcapsule materials (like Drucker, or using Temprid).
And in addition to gel baits . The best way to get rid of ants is to understand where they come from. Ants tend to build their nests in private apartments in the cracks of panels, in the attic and in the cracks of walls and so on. Have you tried looking for the nest in your house?
Whether you live in an apartment, work from an office, or live in a townhouse – ant nests can be scattered everywhere.

Facts about ants and their control:
The ants’ touch makes it easier to get through the hard work at record speed – you will be amazed by this tiny wonder creature.
- Ants can be a difficult creature to kill (try it yourself) – they live in colonies and each one has its own role.
- The fire ant is relatively new in our region (two decades) but is spreading rapidly.
- Did you know? There are more than 12,000 types of ants!
Ant behavior:
Each ant has its own role and work in operating the colony. The workers’ roles are to find food, build the nest, and care for the next generation of ants.
The queen and the male ants are responsible for reproduction. The queen’s main role is to lay eggs. The males have wings and are in flight. When you see ants with wings, this is the breeding time of the females and males – when after mating, each ant (of the queen type) goes to build a nest in a different place. After mating, the male’s role ends and he dies.
The ant (queen) uses her wings to locate a place for her nest and begins to establish the colony.
Ants develop by completing all their stages (metamorphosis), meaning that the eggs turn into larvae and the ones who take care of the larvae are the worker ants (yes, they not only take care of food but also the offspring). Worker or queen ants emerge from the eggs, and after about 3 years the nest “matures” and begins the process of mating every year.

All about ants and ant control:
Ants have become a major pest in recent years, and it is very difficult to control them and predict their behavior. Success in ant control depends a lot on the experience of the exterminator, the use of the appropriate materials (remember – in most cases, there are specific materials that really work for each pest, such as a microcapsule preparation for ants), and of course, the placement of poisoned baits that are designed to eliminate the ants from the root.
Ant identification:
Start by looking at their path first.
Most ants will not travel alone but together – follow them until you reach the colony they have established.
When you look at the ants, are they the same size? Are the ants the same color? When did you recognize them? When you woke up in the morning or in the afternoon – evening? And most importantly – did these ants sting you? (Only the fire ant stings and its treatment is different from other ants). Have you found the ant nest? You can check what it looks like – each type of ant has a different type of nest.

The ant’s life cycle – in a nutshell
The average ant is barely one millionth the size of a human.
But how small they are is complicated.
These tiny animals, known to us since biblical times, undergo several developments during their lives from the moment they are laid until they reach adulthood.
What happens during an ant’s life cycle?
An ant undergoes metamorphosis.
The ant undergoes changes in all parts of its body, and this involves four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult ant.
Egg : The ant’s life cycle begins with an egg. A fertilized egg becomes a female, while an unfertilized egg becomes a male.
Larva : The tiny egg hatches and becomes a worm-like creature (without eyes or legs). The larva feeds constantly and relies on the “worker” ants to feed them. The larvae grow rapidly.
Pupa : When the larva is large enough, it changes its form into a pupa. The pupa looks almost like the adult ant. In some species, the larva wraps a cocoon around itself to protect itself. In other species, the pupa remains unprotected. The pupa process in ants is a process of relaxation and reorganization, during which the pupa transforms itself into an adult ant.
Adult Ant: Finally, the pupa becomes an adult. The adult ant has a strong skeleton that prevents it from growing larger than its initial form. An adult ant can be a queen, a worker, or a male (whose only job is to mate, and then die).
The ant life cycle process takes between a few weeks and a few months depending on the ant species and the environment.

How long do ants live?
The life cycle of ants depends primarily on their status. Males live only a few weeks and die immediately after mating, worker ants live a few months, and queens? Queens live for several decades under the best conditions.
Ants are active year-round in tropical weather; at lower temperatures, they survive the winter by huddling together and remaining inactive until spring returns.

What do ants like? What are ants attracted to?
In the heat of July and August, ants seem to be attracted to just about anything.
Why, for example? Ice cream that spilled on the sidewalk, beer residue from a bottle that was smashed on the road, or simply a Coke that someone left open on the bench.
So is there anything specific that ants are attracted to?
Are ants attracted to artificial sweeteners?
Like us, ants need protein, carbohydrates, and fats in their diet. Since sugar is high in carbohydrates, you will see lots of ants around your sugar, honey, and cereal.
Artificial sweeteners don’t contain the same amount of carbohydrates and as a result they are less palatable (just). As a result, ants are not attracted to artificial sweeteners.
There is a belief that artificial sweeteners keep ants away, such as aspartame – but this is not true. Since they do not attract ants, they do not make good bait. The sweetener itself does not poison the ant.
According to many studies, aspartame does not cause any harm to ants.
Are ants attracted to urine?
While this seems like a strange question, its root comes from the history of diabetes.
Doctors first discovered that ants were attracted to urine when they examined patients with problems that caused them to urinate a lot.
When a person has type 1 diabetes, glucose (actually sugar) is unable to move into the relevant cells – which causes sugar to build up in the blood. When sugar remains in the blood for too long, vital systems in the body begin to be damaged – for example, the kidneys.
The role of the kidneys is to filter, and when filtration is impaired, glucose is not filtered properly and is excreted in the urine.
Ants are attracted to sugar (remember?) because of the carbohydrates, so urine high in glucose attracts ants.
Are ants attracted to salt?
Ants are generally attracted to sugar, but does salt do the same for them?
Ants with little access to salt in their diet may continue to crave salt more than sugar! Salt helps all animals maintain full and healthy body function.
In short, if your salt is open or your entire pantry is low in sodium – expect ants not only in sugar, but also in salt!
Are ants attracted to water?
Like all animals, ants need water to live.
The good thing is that they don’t need a lot of water to survive. They get a lot of water from the food they eat. While they won’t break into your house just for a drop of water, in dry places (not the coastal plain, more mountainous areas) they will be willing to enter your house for a little water or food that contains water.
There are species of ants that are attracted to rotten wood, which is the result of moisture in the wood.
