Questions about bed bug bites and bed bug identification	Short answers – where to find them?
How do I know if these are bedbug, flea, or mosquito bites?	Bedbugs will bite under clothing in a series of 2-3 bites. The fleas will first bite at the ankle in large numbers and then spread out, mosquitoes (bite mainly in spring-summer) will bite above clothing on exposed parts of the skin.
Where to look for fleas?	Look for signs of bedbugs in the folds of the mattress, on the bed base, and in the panels next to the bed.
Is there an ointment I can apply to the bite?	Of course! You can apply anything that soothes the skin, such as aloe vera, Bipanten, etc. There are also preparations that keep fleas away from the body (prescribed by a doctor).
My body doesn’t react well to the bites, what should I do?	There are antihistamines. The bed bug bite is probably causing an allergic reaction in your body. It is recommended to consult a doctor before taking this type of medication.

So what sets flea bites apart from everything else?

Let’s start with the elimination method:

• Mosquitoes bite both day and night – so if you are bitten during the day – it is not bed bugs.
• Fleas bite both day and night and a lot. And in 99% of cases on the legs first (around the ankle area) – does that match your bites? So it’s definitely not bed bugs
• Pigeon ticks sting less but itch more – you can literally feel your whole body itching regardless of day or night.
• Bedbug bites
  • Bedbug bites will appear the morning after you sleep – anywhere on the body . It can be on the neck, face, back of the head, armpits, back, groin – literally anywhere.
  • Bed bug bites will appear in a series of 3-4 bites in each area.
  • Sleeping together and only one gets bitten? This is also a sign of bedbugs.
  • Bedbug bites will only happen during the night (even if you manage to make out in bed with bedbugs – 99% of the time they won’t come out in daylight).

Where are the bedbugs hiding?

Bed bugs can enter our homes without us noticing. How? Through our belongings, suitcases, clothes, second-hand furniture that we brought in from the street (or bought). With an emphasis on second-hand beds, second-hand sofas, etc.
Their flattened bodies make them excellent hiders. They can fit into any hole you don’t expect. They are about the width of a credit card (very thin).

Bedbugs don’t have a nest like ants or wasps.

Although they don’t have a nest, they do like to hide in groups. On the one hand, this is positive because once you find a group, you can find a large number of bedbugs there. On the other hand, it’s probably not the only group.

Bedbugs will usually hide in the mattress, the base of the bed, the panel frames next to the bed, electrical outlets, behind pictures, inside cabinets, etc. They love the combination of wood and darkness. Furthermore – they love the combination of fabric and darkness. If you have a fabric bed (fabric that wraps the base) or a fabric headboard and you suspect bedbugs? Remove the fabric and look for signs of bedbugs.

So how do we perform home treatment? Like we did in the past (today we perform heat treatment for bedbugs )

Have you realized you have bed bugs, found signs of bed bugs or the bed bugs themselves? Follow this short guide and you might be able to get rid of them yourself!

1. Start with the bed first . This refers to the mattress and the bed base. Separate the mattress from the base, go over it with a vacuum cleaner from all directions. Check the folds, the labels on the mattress and any place you think bedbugs could hide. Then wrap the mattress in a special 360 case (you can find it on Amazon – bedbug encasement and soon also in our store at Mezikis – in the meantime, you can call and check if we have cases at the best prices in Israel).
2. Move to the base of the bed – lift it and inspect it from all sides. Look for black dots indicating a cluster of bedbugs in the area. Vacuum the entire base of the bed and its immediate surroundings. Vacuum the panels next to the bed.
3. Unplug the electrical outlet and vacuum there too – lots of bedbugs like to hide inside electrical outlets.

4. Clear out the bedside tables, take down the pictures from the walls, and empty the wardrobe of clothes – vacuum all the furniture.
5. The clothes should be put in the dryer for 45 minutes. If you did not put them in the dryer, you can put them in the washing machine at a temperature of at least 60 degrees.
6. Disinfect the bed base, closet, dressers – everything except the mattress – with products.
7. After a few hours, clean the closet, clean the bed base and the area around the bed – you are nearing the end.
8. Move the bed away from the wall and stick double-sided tape or a mousetrap on each leg of the bed – this will help us monitor the problem and check whether you are free of bedbugs or not.
