Mosquito control in the garden
Not only do we treat mosquitoes, we kill them quickly.
How? With an electric blower and an electric backpack sprayer. With this method, we reach the treetops and all of the mosquitoes’ resting areas with the dispersion of very small pesticide droplets – all so that the mosquitoes cannot stay on the vegetation (see photo).

Standing water – mosquitoes
Mosquitoes can be a serious nuisance. You just go out into the garden and you’re already covered in bites.
The other problem that mosquitoes bring with them and the reason why mosquito control should be carried out is the diseases they can bring with them.

What attracts mosquitoes to your garden?
The female mosquito needs the iron and proteins from our bodies to reproduce.
That’s why (and not because one is sweeter than the other) they sting us. Once they have our blood, they just need a comfortable place to lay their eggs.
Mosquito egg laying can occur anywhere with standing water.
Don’t look for swamps! It’s enough to have a bottle cap with standing water, an upside-down toy in the yard, and water from animals with standing water, etc.
True, we can control all the standing water in our little garden, but we have no control over what the neighbors do.
This is the main and only reason why it is recommended that you spray against mosquitoes (preferably with Mezikis ).

All about mosquitoes – and mosquito control

The mosquito is a major nuisance when it comes to our relationships with each other. No living creature in the world has caused as much damage, but also more disaster than the mosquito. The mosquito not only takes our blood to enjoy the iron and proteins in our blood, but it can also transmit diseases.
The biology of mosquitoes
The mosquito is a type of flying insect with a slender body, thin wings, and long legs. Females are easy to identify by their slender snout or by their mouthparts that stretch from end to end.
Only mosquitoes bite. Male mosquitoes live not on my blood or yours, but on the nectar of flowers.
When the mosquito bites, it injects an anticoagulant substance into the skin to prevent the blood from clotting. This way she can drink to her heart’s content.
The reaction of our body and our immune system causes us to itch and have red skin around the mosquito bite.
Different people have different bites and different reactions. It depends on our body and its reaction to the mosquito bite. Some are more sensitive (my mother) and some don’t feel the bites. The lucky ones are those who don’t get bitten by them at all.

The life cycle of the mosquito
It’s true that there are several types of mosquitoes, some that are more active during the day, some that are active at night, some that bite and some that just hover above us, but they all go through the same life cycle – so what is the mosquito’s life cycle?
- Egg – After a good blood meal, the female mosquito lays her eggs in standing water. The eggs will hatch within 24-72 hours (depending on the temperature)
- Larva – After the egg hatches, the larva emerges. The time between the larval stage and the pupa depends on the mosquito strain and weather – usually within a few days.
- Pupa – After the larval stage (the larval stage), the pupa stage appears. At this stage, the pupae will be found on the surface of the water. The pupae are already breathing air and within 1-4 days they will become adults.
- Adult – After the pupal stage ends, the adult mosquito emerges. The mosquito will usually first rest on the surface of the water until its legs and wings are strong enough to help it fly away.
How long do mosquitoes live?
In an ideal world, where mosquitoes die from “aging,” it would take two months for females and a few weeks for males (we always live less than them).
Most often, many mosquitoes die before they even reach retirement, mainly through our intervention, drying up water sources, physically killing them with bats, bug zappers, electric bats, other predators, and more.
How long will mosquitoes live after they bite?
Unlike bees that die after they sting mosquitoes, mosquitoes do not live off our blood at all – remember this, they need the blood to thrive and lay eggs and take care of the next generation.
Male mosquitoes do not bite at all because they do not need blood to reproduce, on the other hand, females after a blood meal will live between 1-2 months and during this time they will lay between 5-10 times, up to 100 eggs each time! (Do the math yourself..)
Mosquito prevention tips
Complete control or elimination of the mosquito problem in your area is impossible . However, reducing the mosquito problem is certainly possible and involves several components:
1. Remove any substrate that can absorb water, especially sources of standing water.
The definition of standing water is water that has been standing for more than 7 days.
This includes rainwater of course, water from the children’s pool, and water in the bowls we place for animals.
2. Mosquito larva control. Do you have small fish ponds or a decorative garden with a pond? If you are afraid of mosquitoes or are already being bitten by mosquitoes, it is worth using Mezikis so that we can come and check if you have mosquito larvae in these waters.
3. Adult mosquito control – the best method to get rid of mosquitoes once and for all. Adult mosquito control almost immediately solves the problem of bites, it significantly reduces (we have already concluded that there is no 100%) the phenomenon of mosquitoes in your home and garden. Adult mosquito bites are the best method for you to stop getting bitten and return to enjoying your home and garden. Adult mosquitoes are the ones that bite in order to develop, drink our blood, proteins and other good things that our blood brings with it, lay eggs everywhere and, by and large, thrive.
Don’t let mosquitoes thrive at your expense!
How is mosquito control actually carried out?

Spraying against mosquitoes is done in the garden only! This refers to outdoor areas only and not inside the house or apartment itself.
Yes, there will be a great effect on the interior of the house as well (since the outside will be cleaned of mosquitoes), but pesticides intended only for mosquitoes explicitly state on them – for external use only.
Keep in mind that if an exterminator offers you mosquito control inside your home, the mosquitoes will be gone for a maximum of 24 hours!
Mosquito control in the garden is carried out on everything. On the vegetation, the walls, the furniture, and anything that could serve as a “resting area” for mosquitoes. Since we cannot spray the air, we spray the mosquitoes’ resting areas.
Using a substance specifically for mosquitoes will give you mosquito peace for between 30-45 days. Using a substance not specifically for mosquitoes will give you peace for between 8-24 hours.
Mosquito control before an event

Getting married? Organizing an outdoor event? Want to be quiet when it comes to mosquitoes, flies, and various insects? Excellent. Here, unlike the relatively expensive mosquito-only pesticide, you can use excellent materials that are both cheap and up to a quarter of the price of the pesticide specifically for mosquitoes.
The advantage of the mosquito repellent is that it lasts between 30-45 days.
If you want to treat the mosquito problem just before an event, then the price will be significantly cheaper. The price will of course be determined by the area of the venue, but it will be at least half the price of regular mosquito control.
Mosquito control price
The price of mosquito control for an average yard starts at 500 NIS. The relatively high price is due to the special equipment that not all pest control companies have (an electric blower that disperses the drops to the tops of the trees), as well as the use of a substance intended for mosquitoes only .

How long should you go outside after mosquito control?
After mosquito control, you should leave the sprayed area for one hour . That’s the short answer.
For pregnant women, infants and animals, our recommendation is that they leave the sprayed area for 6 hours .

The Asian tiger mosquito
The Asian tiger mosquito has been the best-known mosquito that attacks us here in our theaters for years. As its name suggests, it is not native. The Asian tiger mosquito or Asian tiger came to us, of course, from East Asia.
How did the mosquito get from East Asia to Israel?
Easily! He hitched a ride on shipments that came from his country of origin to our island nation. Mostly on wheel tires where water easily collects and the water there stands for a long time – a substrate on which the mosquito can thrive. Since our country is small, the mosquito is already in literally every corner and most municipalities are already taking part and trying to reduce the threat as much as possible.
The Asian tiger mosquito generally prefers warm weather – which we have in abundance. It is very common in coastal areas but also in mountainous and temperate areas like Jerusalem.
Characteristics of the Asian tiger mosquito
color
Color: Its body is black with white dots – just like in the picture.
Size: 0.6 cm
Characteristics
The aforementioned mosquito is considered particularly aggressive. It wants to eat and drink from us as much as possible a day and likes to “host” more than one person, and this includes us, humans, and even animals.
Its bites, beyond being a nuisance, can also transmit various diseases such as West Nile fever, dengue fever, and more.
This species goes through four life stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult. The eggs of the Asian tiger become larvae – these are when they are covered with water They become adults within two weeks! (Under ideal conditions – in our country, the conditions are ideal).
The Asian tiger mosquito lives on average for three weeks.
Habits
Mosquitoes lay their eggs in moist bedding, above the surface of the water. You can find eggs next to containers of water, flower vases, animal water bowls, baby and small child pools, and more.
Not only that, but the female mosquito can lay her eggs in holes in trees where water has collected.
Pay attention to this – one female mosquito can lay 500 eggs during her lifetime!
Adult mosquitoes move on average less than 200 meters from where they were born, so chances are that if you take care of your yard, the phenomenon will end once and for all.
Tips for eradicating the Asian tiger mosquito
1. Empty any standing water containers. All containers – whether it’s a child’s toy or the cat’s water dish. Remember, mosquitoes breed in standing water.
2. Limit activity in your garden in the early morning and late afternoon – during these hours mosquitoes are most active.
3. Until you call us to perform mosquito control – apply mosquito repellent to your body, wear long clothing to prevent mosquitoes from biting you.
