What to look for?	Where to look (and find)
External appearance of the flea or bite	You can easily see an adult bed bug (pictures below) – look mainly under the mattress and in the crevices of the bed base. Regarding bites – if you wake up in the morning with a series of 2-4 bites (not bites only around the ankle – because then they are fleas) – it is almost certainly a sign that they are bed bugs.
Common location	Hides in crevices in the bed, under mattress covers, wooden frames, and furniture near the bed.
Bites on the body	Bites in a semicircular line, grouped, above and below clothing – mainly a feeling of going to bed without and waking up with (bites).
Blood stains	Small spots of blood on the bedding or mattress after a bed bug bite while sleeping (this is rarer to find).
Black dots – the feces on bed bugs	Small black dots resembling ink stains on the base of the bed, on the mattress, on the electrical outlets, and anywhere there is a small "nest" of bedbugs – these signs will be visible (identification sign #1).

Bed bug identification – four rules

1. Bed bugs can be easily seen (unlike fleas, ticks, etc., which are more difficult to see with the naked eye).

Identifying bed bug bites

What do bed bug bites look like?

In fact, they are often small and difficult to see and notice right away. However, some people have a more pronounced reaction than others ( and sometimes only one partner gets stung, which is actually fun) .

While many people may experience mild redness of the skin after being bitten by an insect, this is usually not the case with bed bug bites. Some people whose beds are infested with bed bugs show no symptoms at all . However, in some cases, people can develop swollen lymph nodes hours or days after being bitten by a bed bug (and of course, whenever an allergic reaction occurs, consult a doctor, who will usually prescribe antihistamines).

What are bed bug bites?

Where does a bed bug bite first?

Bed bugs often have similar tastes in choosing the parts of your body they feed on. They want your blood like mosquitoes, but they are much more light-averse so they will often reach inconspicuous places. If you have been bitten by bed bugs in the past, then you may notice red bumps or other symptoms on your: Neck and face, arms and fingers, feet, neck, back or shoulders! In short – almost anywhere but not necessarily in exposed places!

The bites from these creatures can swell, and interesting information is that at the moment of the bite, the bedbug injects an anesthetic substance so that you will barely feel the bite itself!

Because they feed on blood, the skin under each bite will often turn red and develop a bump that appears to be filled with fluid. If you continue to get bitten by bed bugs on different parts of your body, it can cause open sores due to scratching.

Bedbugs in an electrical outlet: an invisible challenge

Finding bed bugs in unexpected places like electrical outlets can be a frustrating and challenging problem for homeowners and renters alike. Not only are they in beds, at the base of the bed, at the back of the bed, now you've also found them in the electrical outlet?

Bed bugs, known for their elusive nature, often find refuge in small crevices and hidden areas in homes. Electrical outlets, with their dark, isolated spaces, provide an ideal hiding place for these pests. But with Mezikis , don't worry.

This can be done by unscrewing the outlet cover and using a flashlight to check for insects, eggs, or telltale signs such as dark fecal stains. It is important to exercise caution and make sure the power is off before inspecting or treating electrical outlets.
In the old method, since it is forbidden to spray the electrical outlet with wet materials, you put powders in there. Common toxic powders are:

Dorsid powder – with an active ingredient of about 6-7 percent (not very effective).
Permethrol powder – with an active ingredient of about 25% – but is excessively toxic.

If you want to try to solve the problem yourself, you can insert into the electrical outlets: diatomaceous earth – this type of powder is not toxic at all (but its effectiveness is not 100% clear).

When performing heat treatment – there is no need to think so much about all these toxic substances because there is no need to disassemble the electrical outlet, take down the switch and blow it with powder. The heat alone will do the treatment and if you had bed bugs in the electrical outlets – after heat treatment we can open the electrical outlet and you will see the bugs completely burned (roasted). No longer reddish brown but more black.

Do bed bugs bite every night?

Bed bugs are nocturnal, which means they usually feed on their victims at night. They are attracted to the carbon dioxide your body gives off as well as the warmth of your skin. This is why they primarily go after people, but if there are no people available for them to feed on, then they will attack pets instead (very rarely). Typically, they will bite you every 1-3 nights.

How long does it take for bed bug bites to appear?

It usually takes 1-6 days for bed bug bites to become symptomatic. This is because your body needs time to create the antibodies that will work to fight off infection from these pests. If you haven't been bitten by bed bugs before, it may take up to a month for you to develop symptoms such as redness, itching, or pain in the area. Of course, some people will start showing symptoms immediately after being bitten.

Pest type	The nature of the bites
Bed bugs	Bed bugs will bite you in series (i.e. in a sequence of at least 2-3 bites) in the same area. This will be on any area of ​​the body, mainly under clothing, but can also appear on the neck, face and exposed areas!
Mosquitoes	Mosquitoes will bite you in your exposed areas, i.e. your hands and feet only (they can also bite your face, but this is rare). Mosquitoes will bite in the spring-summer months and almost never in the winter (unlike bed bugs).
Fleas	Fleas will first bite you on your legs around the ankle area. If the area is heavily infested, the fleas will also bite around the thighs and lower abdomen. In other cases, they will also climb onto your back. Fleas will bite you both day and night, so if you are bitten during the day – it is a sign that it is not bed bug bites but something else!
Pigeon lice (crassonia)	Pigeon lice will usually itch more and sting less. You will see fewer prominent red bite marks and more incessant scratching of the body. You will hardly see any signs of them and it is not always easy to see the insect itself. Look for a pigeon nest first and start your search for pigeon lice from there.
Allergy not caused by insects	We've encountered this too. It's not always insects that bite you. Sometimes changing soap, fabric softener, or laundry detergent will cause you to get red and you'll start thinking that you have pests (which aren't really there). If this is the case, look for signs first, check when you feel the bites and start your journey from there.
